<a href="https://www.patreon.com/posts/introducing-more-76652994" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Introducing Surviving Society Productions: More notes on love, hope and solidarity in times of crisis</a>We continue to witness how the slow burn of pain, distress and political calamities - overwhelmingly produced by the structures in place to serve the most powerful - infiltrate our everyday lives. In terms of how this impacts our sense of selves (who are we?!), our loved ones (family and friends) and our communities, it feels like we have been slowly entering a new phase of social life, or relatedness. As we negotiate the acute impacts and lasting consequences of the structures we live amongst, perhaps it is time to seriously consider how love, care and processes of accountability (and solidarity) can better define how we treat and relate to each other?Put very simply, locally and globally, life feels difficult. And those who can generate cash and accumulate power through our collective suffering, anxiety and stress seem all the more reactive, resistant to change, and difficult to push back against. The terrain is very tricky to navigate as we continue to see how all these emergencies penetrate our social relations and impact relationships in our everyday lives.We are a sociologically informed platform. This means that we are concerned with how the structures and formation of society unevenly affect&nbsp;our social lives. The beginning of our message begins with caution not because we think the task of changing an unjust status quo is impossible, but because doing so is urgent and requires collective introspection, organising, and action.Like many others around us, here at Surviving Society, we contend that political education and knowledge production informed by quests for liberation and emancipation are seemingly small yet tremendously significant features of how we respond to society’s most pressing inequalitiesOur very small contribution during these distressing times is still focused on using this local and global platform to pass the mic and discuss and present the movements, people, research, and theories that are challenging the forces which seek to make life unliveable.Our focus in 2023 thereby remains the democratisation of teaching, research and scholarship on matters designed to make life more liveable.We are so grateful for the years of support from so many of you. Listeners, guests and behind the scenes supporters continue to enable us to get to a place where Surviving Society can remain consistent.We have slowly been transitioning into a new model and form of Surviving Society that centres, platforms and prioritises political issues that transcends our (in house) expertise. With this, we are so excited to be edging closer toward a digital platform that goes beyond our current format and is focused on supporting and leading on more podcasts, as well as expanded radio and digital productions.
