Episode notes

Simon Thomas explores human endurance through the toughest times. In a series of interviews with well-known celebrities and notable people, he discovers how crisis and desperation can lead to hope and inspiration for a new and happy life. Here we will discover that people from all walks of life have endured the most difficult times. That there is hope. That our most desperate moments can reveal strength and resilience we didn’t know we had. That things can, and will, get better. In this interview, Simon talks to star of the TV programme SAS: Who Dares Wins, Billy Billingham. After a near-miss during a knife-right in his youth and strong advice from a boxing coach, Billy decided that he needed a life-direction and joined the Military. There he found like-minded people and thrived on the mental and physical challenge. As he grew, he discovered how capable he was and became a bodyguard to film stars including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Now on TV, Billy reflects on his past and how he understands life very differently now.
