Studio 1

World Glaucoma Week with Kirk Pengilly of INXS

Listen on

Episode notes

Matthew Layton presents Studio 1 - Vision Australia Radio’s weekly look at life from a low vision and blind point of view.

On this week’s show…

300,000 people in Australia have glaucoma - an eye disease that can lead to permanent blindness.

50% of those people - that’s 150,000 people - don’t know they have it.

You could be one of them,

Have we got your attention?

Matthew’s guests on this week’s show explain what glaucoma is, how you can find out whether you have it (it’s non-invasive and doesn’t hurt), what to do if you do end up getting it (take it seriously, but don’t panic) and what life is like after diagnosis.

Matthew also talks to Kirk Pengilly of INXS about how he nearly lost his sight to glaucoma at the age of 29 and, by way of getting you to listen through to the end of the show, Matthew has also sent Kirk a couple of tunes to listen to and review.
