My Dad Stole My Limelight

S3 E1: Sasha Mark with Danielle Kayahara

Listen on

Episode notes

The first interview of the season is just a delight, joined by Sasha Mark and Danielle Kayahara. Buckle up for a belly laugh and warm hug all in one as Sasha returns after being a guest of a guest with Skye, to tell their own story of coming out, not exactly as planned at first. Sasha shares how that is an ongoing, wonderful journey of being gay and queer while continuing to explore being gender fluid and two-spirit in his journey.

As is a bit of a running theme in this podcast, Sasha and Danielle are an example of surrounding yourself with the people you love and who love you, and how important that is in being your true self. As comedians, they are grateful to use the stage to express and share themselves with the world.

Sasha dives into how coming out or being you sometimes get the label or tone that bad news is being delivered, but Sasha is here to remind you it is far from that. This is you stepping into your true self, your authentic self, and coming out is an exciting thing that is great news!

Danielle also shares her experiences and reflects that without comedy, she might not be out yet. This reminds us of the importance of finding ways to express ourselves in order to find ourselves.

Both of the guests are absolutely iconic and I am so grateful to have sat with them.
