Piastri rejecting Alpine's announcement he would be driving for them

A couple of hours after Alpine had announced reserve driver and academy star Oscar Piastri would be driving for them in 2023, the Australian youngster came out and denied that was the case, definitively saying he would not be racing for Alpine next year.

Ricciardo's uncertain future

Piastri's bombshell has left the 2023 grid looking very uncertain, particularly for the underperforming Daniel Ricciardo, with his younger compatriot believed to be aiming for his McLaren seat.
