008 Anti-Racism, (Un)Learning and Knowing Your Why, with Asma Shah

Having spent much of her career in the cultural and creative sectors at organisations such as Channel 4, Roundhouse and Creative Skillset, Asma Shah was inspired to create a truly effective programme for young women in East London. Established in 2011 as a virtually funding-free pilot, You Make It combines creative workshops, mentoring, work placements, business initiatives and holistic care to help guide working class, women of colour to happier and more independent lives. The organisation have also devised You Change It: an anti-racism programme designed with a human-centred approach and delivered by facilitators with lived experiences, that allows people to come together, learn and solidify their values to stand up against racism in practical ways.
