FYF 003: Retire in your 30s! A Purple Life and Financial Mechanic discuss Financial Independence / Retire Early (FIRE)

Listen on

Episode notes

Two 20-something women planning to retire in their 30s tell-all: the exact dollars and cents of their FIRE plans, the advice they’d give themselves in their early 20s, aligning your spending and lifestyle with your values, and how to handle the risks of retiring in your 30s.

A Purple Life is striving to retire from her full-time job in September of 2020 to eat her way across the world. She has been able to accelerate this goal by increasing her income through job hopping and decreasing her spending with domestic geo-arbitrage.

Financial Mechanic is mechanical engineer turned programmer with a pretty big DIY project: save enough money to become financially independent. She's saved 380k by the age of 26 by living frugally, increasing her income, and investing the rest.

This episode was recorded live at FinCon 2019! It’s a casual chat, and at one point, my guests even turn the interview around on me!
