Making Myth | Interview with Jennifer Saint

Listen on

Episode notes

Jennifer Saint, author of Ariadne, joins us in this episode of the Love Your Library podcast. Her debut novel breathes new life into the myth that many of us know as “Theseus and the Minotaur”, retelling the story through the eyes of Ariadne and Phaedra, the two princesses of Crete. Jennifer speaks with us about the inspiration behind her novels and why it’s so important that we revisit our classical myths with a new lens.

We were also joined by Chris from the central libraries team to talk about his book recommendation  Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. A dystopian thriller that has shaped our understanding of history, politics, and culture since its publication.

There’s still plenty of time to sign up to the Winter Reading Challenge and read any four books, on your own or with your loved ones, before Saturday 26 February.

Our online reading group’s read for this month is The Art of Rest by Claudia Hammond which is available for unlimited download all throughout January as an ebook or audiobook.

If you enjoyed this episode, why not check out our interview with Caroline Criado Perez about her non-fiction book Invisible Women.
