Mersey Waves

The most wonderful time of the year?

Listen on

Episode notes

It’s a time of year we associate with happiness, over-indulgence, family and friends.

But for a large number of people, it’s anything but a magical time, and can feel like the loneliest time of the year.

Mind, the UK’s leading mental health charity, found:

  • One in ten people feel unable to cope at Christmas and this figure triples if people already experience mental health problems.
  • One in twenty people consider taking their own life as a direct result of the festive period.

We talk to three people about mental health and asking them advice on how people can cope this Christmas and in to the New Year.
