Episode notes

Welcome back to our ongoing Guilty Pleasure’s bonus series! A series we begun as part of our friends Bloodhound Pix #HorrorNotFear campaign, which will see New Horror Express along with several other outlets offering bonus content up until June 2021. But is now also a proud part of the Morbidly Beautiful network!

We ran a poll on social media platforms to see which film we would look at in our UK edition of the series between “Evil Aliens” and “Cradle of Fear.” And by a landslide you went with Jake West’s 2005 effort “Evil Aliens.”

Alongside NHE host Scott Murphy to delve into this one we have a great former guest in “Knuckleball” director Michael Peterson and, in a series debut, friend of the show Bloodhound Pix co-host Craig Draheim.

Over the course we attempt to unravel the plot of this splattery alien invasion romp despite the fact one of us (Mike) had to watch a Hindi dub of the film. So he only had the visual storytelling aspect of the film to go on! It also turns out that watching it without understanding the script might just be the best way to watch it!

Elsewhere in the episode we dissect the films many goretastic deaths, the movies penchant for insert things “because that’s cool” despite them making little sense, the general unlikable nature of the characters and the apparent easy availability of samurai swords in Wales.

Correction: In the episode host Scott Murphy refers to a film called “Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula” which is, of course, actually called “Bram Stoker’s Dracula”
