Do you want to achieve your biggest goals? If your answer is yes, you’re in the right place, because the God & Goals podcast series was created to help you do just that. You’ll learn how to set your sights on a goal, believe in God and the God in you, and see yourself achieve great things.

You know those big, hairy, audacious goals that no one else even knows about? Yes, those are the goals you’re going for. Because it's time to stop settling for fitting in — you were born to stand out! As a child of God, dominion is your birthright. God does not create duplicates; He creates one-of-a-kind originals with a purpose. So now is the time for you to be bold, be different, and dominate your field.

What Does it Mean to Believe BIG?

So what does it mean to believe big? Believing big means having faith in God and yourself that you can accomplish whatever goal you set for yourself. It means trusting that your hard work will pay off, no matter how difficult it may seem in the moment.

Believing big also means not giving up when things seem impossible. Instead, continue to strive forward, knowing that God is with you every step of the way.

Scripture reminds us that “with God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). When we set goals in our lives, we must have faith that not only can we achieve those goals, but that with God's help, anything is possible. To believe big means believing not just in yourself and your abilities, but also in the power of prayer — and trusting in God's providence.

Visualize Your Goals

The key to believe big is, first, to identify your goals. But if you’ve been following along with this series, then you know we’ve already tackled that in Part 1: Dream Big. So let’s move on to the next step, which is to visualize your goals as if they have already been achieved

Now, this might sound a little crazy. But it actually helps! It helps build confidence and boost motivation, so you can actually take action towards receiving those goals. Some people say that the brain actually can’t tell whether something is real or just a dream. That may or may not be true, but what if it is? What if by visualizing you can literally condition your brain to see yourself as successful?

Try it — imagine yourself having already successfully achieved your goals. Focus on how it will feel once those goals have been achieved. Pay attention to the emotions associated with achieving those goals, as well as the tangible results.

Of course, in addition to visualizing the end result, it’s important that you make a plan for how you’re going to get there. That means you’ve got to have an action plan, something concrete to work on. This helps keep you accountable throughout the process.

It’s also helpful to break down large goals into smaller chunks so they don't seem so overwhelming. Because let's be honest, getting overwhelmed is often what stops our progress. So as much as possible, you want to prevent discouragement and burnout along the way.

Finally, make sure your faith stays front and center during every step of your journey towards achieving your goals. Pray often, ask for guidance, and trust God’s plan for your life. You may not always know where He will lead you or why things happen the way they do, but you've got to learn to be okay with not having all the answers. We really don't have a lot of control anyway, so the best thing we can do is to pray and keep moving in faith.

Trust God’s Plan

Remember this: Nothing that has happened or will happen will catch God by surprise. In other words, whatever happens was already accounted for in His plan, which means He's already made a way for you to get to the other side. So you can trust and rely on Him. No matter what comes your way along the journey, it's already accounted for in His plan.

That said, there are going to be times when your back is up against the wall, when the going gets tough. In those times, hold on to this verse: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). These words are full of power, and remind you that you have the capacity to tackle anything when you trust in God's plan for you.

With faith in God and God in you, you can overcome any obstacle you face and succeed at whatever endeavor He calls you to. Stepping out on a limb will require courage, but nothing is too big to accomplish when you have the most powerful ally in the universe on your side. So reassure yourself with this verse. Yes, you can!

Believing big is essential when it comes to goal setting. It takes courage and faith to pursue our dreams, especially when we don't know where they will lead us or how long it will take us to get there. But we must remember that anything is possible with God on our side. He has a plan for each and every one of us — all we have to do is choose to follow Him, and He will take care of the details. So believe big and trust in His timing. With patience and persistence, great things are possible.

Biblical Heroes Who Believed Big

Believing big isn’t unique to us today. There are plenty of examples of people in the Bible who believed in God to do the impossible. Here are a few examples:

  1. Abraham: In Genesis 12, God told Abraham to leave his home and go to a land that he would later inherit. Abraham obeyed, even though he had no idea where he was going or how he would get there. As a result of his faith, Abraham became the father of many nations and was blessed beyond measure.
  2. Moses: In Exodus 14, God told Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the promised land. Moses obeyed, even though the Israelites were outnumbered and outgunned by the Egyptians. As a result of his faith, Moses led the Israelites to freedom, and they would eventually inherit the promised land.
  3. Joshua: In Joshua 6, God told Joshua to lead the Israelites in an attack on the city of Jericho. Joshua obeyed, even though Jericho was a heavily fortified city and the Israelites had no hope of defeating this enemy on their own. But as a result of his faith, Joshua led the Israelites to victory, and they conquered Jericho.

Believing big for the things that really matter will change everything in your life. Believe in your faith and in all that God has planned for you. Believe that He can work miracles, and trust Him to do it. If you need a little extra motivation, remember these biblical examples. Knowing that He's done it before encourages us that He can work miracles again.
