Episode #37 of the Running Industry Podcast rounds-up the Weekly News from the running world and the wider running industry.

In this week's news, the Tokyo Olympics has "caused sleepless nights" but must go ahead "to give hope" for the future, so says International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach. With less than a week to go until 5k Parkrun events return in England, the team are working closely with ambassadors and event teams to ensure everything is in place for a smooth reopening this weekend.

In other event news the ASICS London 10K will return to London this Sunday and the BBC reports that this year's Great North Run will not finish in South Shields.

Production at some of Nike's largest plants in Vietnam has been disrupted as Covid has spread through factories, online ultra running site iRunFar have unveiled their Best Trail Running Shoes of 2021, Wahoo have launched the Element Rival Multisport GPS watch and COROS have announced that the revamped sports science platform the COROS EvoLab.

In ultra trail event news Sabrina Verjee is among the top entries for the challenging Cape Wrath Ultra and Run Mummy Run have launched their Run Mummy Run Community Run Club in association with ASICS.

And finally, Belfast girl Emer McKee, 12, has once again broken the 5k world record for her age group!
