Last Match Reviews

Blackpool 2 – Wimbledon 0

Sullay Kaikai fired against the crossbar from outside the area early on and Nathan Delfouneso hooked the rebound over as the hosts dominated.

Kaikai’s free-kick curled off target, while Matty Virtue chested down Jay Spearing’s pass but fired straight at visiting goalkeeper Nathan Trott.

After a goalless first half, the hosts took the lead six minutes after the restart when Gnanduillet’s effort flew in following Delfouneso’s good work.

Gnanduillet secured the points with nine minutes remaining after slotting home Liam Feeney’s cross from close range.

Fans feedback on the Wimbledon game.

Ipswich 2 – Blackpool 2

  • Ipswich take lead, a soft goal following a defensive mistake by Heneghan
  • Nuttall equaliser following great flowing move down the left
  • Spearing pen after Kaikai fouled. Limbs when ‘Pool equalised!
  • Ipswich equaliser after silly handball from Nutall

Fan interview – Robbie Whittaker

  • Why and how long have you supported the ‘Pool?
    • Born in Fleetwood, my cousin took me originally when I was 7. So a bit over 51 years.
  • What was your first ever game?
    • Hull City at home, August 1968. Won 2-0, Tommy White scored both.
  • Best and worst HOME games you have witnessed?
    • Best – probably the 3-2 Cup win over Arsenal. Worst would probably be a 3-1 Tuesday night defeat to Chester in 1990 or thereabouts. That was a long journey home on the sleeper after that one.
  • Best and worst AWAY games you have witnessed?
    • Best would have to be Forest I think, because of the importance and the quality of the performance. Worst – I could choose from hundreds, but the recent 4-0 defeat at Brentford  sticks in my memory.
  • The best and worst Blackpool player you’ve seen play.
    • Best would be Tony Green, who is in my top three of midfield players I have ever seen anywhere. Worst would be any one of the numerous mates Alan Ball brought to the club for one last payday.
  • Favorite place to stand/sit on both the OLD and NEW Bloomfield Road stadium
    • In the old BR, what became the home half of the Kop. In the new stadium I think all areas are good.
  • One football rule you would get rid of?
    • Can I choose VAR? Though it isn’t a rule, as such.
  • Worst away ground visited.
    • Loads to choose from. Springfield Park was grim, as was Eastville. The Old Den was very scary and I have never liked Burnley.
  • Worst away town ever visited.
    • This could be a long list as well. Swansea, Blackburn and Oldham are all depressing, but nowhere is as horrible as Luton and their gobshite fans.
  •  And finally, where do you think Blackpool will finish this year?
    • Top ten. I doubt there will be much between third and tenth.
