Starting Over with B*Witched

4: Financial Loss

Listen on

Episode notes

In the fourth episode of their new podcast Starting Over, Edele, Sinead and Lindsay from B*Witched talk about financial loss - both in terms of the band coming to an end, but also the losses that they faced as a result of the global recession in 2008 which hit Ireland particularly badly.

Sinead talks about the pressure she felt after she'd invested in properties and saw them all tumbling into negative equity as a result of the recession - she was pregnant at the time, and felt a huge responsibility on her shoulders. Edele talks about the financial pressures that come with being a new Mum, and how at one point she was paying her mortgage on her credit card and moved to England in a rusty Volkswagen Passat to start over again. Lindsay talks about her Dad and how the recession affected him in Greece - he had retired at the time, and shows that financial loss can hit anyone at any stage in life.

The global pandemic has affected so many people financially, and financial worry can absolutely be emotional worry. Sometimes, it can feel like there's no way out when it comes to money - but if you're in this position, we hope that the conversations in this episode encourage you to reach out and ask for help. When you do, it can be really surprising where help can come from.

Keavy will of course be joining the rest of the girls a little later in the series... She's currently a little busy as she's just had two gorgeous babies!
