The Gays Are Revolting

Living through the AIDS crisis with Debra McDougall

Listen on

Episode notes

It’s episode 100! And we’ve saved one of our best until last. In this episode, Tom interviews his good friend Debra McDougall. As a self proclaimed ‘fag hag’ living in San Fransisco throughout the ’70s, ’80s and ‘90s, Debra talks about the death of her close friend to AIDS, having to travel to another state for an abortion, Ronald Reagan’s response to the AIDS epidemic and meeting her husband getting tear-gassed protesting the Vietnam war.  And it's our final After Show! To wrap things up we're talking to the producer of The Gays Are Revolting Dan Gregg about how and why he cast each host, the process of pulling together topics and editing the show each week, and the messages he hopes listeners will take away after 101 episodes. Listen at patreon.com/gaysrevoltingpod. Patrons: don't forget next Thursday 20th August is our final live stream! Tune in from 8pm.
