Episode notes

“We’re not on track to achieve what governments have agreed” warns Nick Eyre, professor of energy and climate policy at Oxford University and one of the authors of the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessment report. In this episode, Caterina Brandmayr, head of climate policy at Green Alliance, speaks to Nick about the importance of the report’s findings and what it tells us about how to cut emissions and the extent to which the UK has made progress in meeting its own targets on climate and nature. They discuss what needs to change for the government to show the necessary  leadership in future.

The IPCC Sixth assessment report: mitigation of climate change is the third and final instalment of the IPCC’s latest assessment. It provides an updated global assessment of climate change mitigation progress and pledges, and examines the sources of global emissions. It explains developments in emission reduction and mitigation efforts, assessing the impact of national climate pledges in relation to long term emissions goals.
