Episode notes

Mirra Andreeva has done it! She is now a grand slam champion, defeating Maja Chwalinska in the final to secure her maiden grand slam title. She becomes the youngest player since Monica Seles to win and the first teenager since Iga Swiatek in 2020.

She made it look easy on finals day against a tricky opponent coming through in straight sets 6-3 6-2 in just under an hour and a half. Chris and Kim reflect on the victory - how Andreeva has matured and how high she can go and whether she will win more slams this year.

They also talk about Maja Chwalinska's incredible run from qualifying all the way to the final in Paris winning 9 matches in a row before becoming unstuck by a world class opponent. They talk about what is in store for her - whether Wimbledon will grant her a wild card which would make her the first player in history to be both a wild card and seed a the championships and what she should do if she doesn't receive one.

They also unpack the doubles action as Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos defend their title in men’s doubles and in the wheelchairs Alfie Hewitt went down to Oda but won a 7th successive doubles title on the clay!
