My Dad Stole My Limelight

S3 E5: Mallory Gallant with Valerie Pierce & Kelsey Schimpf

Listen on

Episode notes

This week’s guest joined the recording by announcing “I wore this for you” and stood up to reveal a sweater with the triple goddess moon symbol with “not a phase” written underneath and the whole damn thing was the colours of the bisexual flag. So yes, I am kind of obsessed with her.

Mallory Gallant is a writer, producer, comedian, and Project Manager with Comedy Here Often? (helllllllllo am I interviewing the boss of the pod? maybe).

In this episode, she is joined by her long-time best friends Valerie and Kelsey, and there is an ongoing debate if their names all rhyme, so make sure to listen for the conclusion. More importantly, we chat about coming out to those who may already suspect you are amazing, “coming out” in that you might just start living your authentic life without any real proclamation and people can get on board or get out of the way, and how your friends see you shift when you step into your authentic self.

Mallory also talks about her life as a new parent and postponing her dream queer wedding several times during this, the era of the pandemimoore. I loved hearing her friends love every bit about Mallory coming out in order to make her dream life a reality for herself and to open the door to those possibilities.

Mallory is a badass, and it was such a pleasure to have her on the pod. Keep an eye out for Lauren and Mal brunch comedy shows in a venue near you soon (;

PS My (Lauren’s) mic got damaged on my cross country move and it didn’t reveal itself as damaged until we sat down to record this episode. Please forgive the audio quality of my headphones.
