Hear Myself Think

S2E3 Make a stir fry with Bisi

Listen on

Episode notes

Join Bisi in making a stir fry as she attempts to recover from the demoralising experience of ableism. As she seeks solace from the social structures that disenfranchise people with disabilities, Bisi explores how we identify the difference between a suggestion and a demand.

Support
If like Bisi, you sometimes get overwhelmed by the structures of life, it can help to remind yourself that it’s okay to step out the lines and do things the way you feel you need to. It doesn’t have to make sense to everyone, nor do they have to agree with it. There is a difference between a suggestion and a demand. However, if these thoughts continue to hold you back from living the life you want to lead, it might be time to share how you feel with a friend, family member, community support group, or your GP. There are also links to additional support on the hearmyselfthink.co.uk website.
