In this week’s episode, we speak to Charlie Martin who is real game changer in motorsport. Charlie shares with us her inspiring story and her passion for racing, surfing and finding tranquillity by the oceans. She started hillclimbing at club level in a Peugeot 205 (in 2004). Since then she has been breaking class records and working her way through various championships. She is now embarking on the ambition of a lifetime to make history as the first transgender driver to compete at the 24hrs of Le Mans, the greatest race in the World.
In June 2021, as part of Vogue’s Forces for Change initiative, in partnership with BMW. Charlie was featured in British Vogue as one of four individuals to share their story about being themselves in their jobs and how being authentic has resulted in them delivering some of their best work. Charlie has fought continuously to overcome adversity throughout her life, having lost both her parents at a young age. As a transgender woman in motorsport, she occupies a unique role within her sport and the LGBTQ+ community and it is our pleasure to chat to her on the Active Digital podcast.
