Never Told
Of Rats and Men
Episode notes
Written & performed by Joanne Lau.
Maggie, a research technician at an animal laboratory, explores what it means to have a good death as she sacrifices mice and rats whilst simultaneously watching a family member die of cancer, in this moving story, written and performed by Joanne Lau.
Joanne Lau is a former neuroscientist/comedian, and an alumni of the BBC Writersroom Comedy Room and BBC New Talent Hotlist 2017. She’s been a finalist for the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum - TV Drama, Royal Court Theatre/Kudos Writing Fellowship, Cinequest Teleplay 60, and Funny Women Awards. Prior to writing full-time, Joanne spent 15 years in academic neuroscience research working on pain disorders, brain tumours, and other ways your nervous system can go horribly wrong. She solved exactly none of those things.
This is the second episode of our brand new anthology podcast. We’ll be back every Monday with original, intimate stories from writers, performers and filmmakers.
