Listen on

Episode notes

With more than half of blind and partially sighted people highlighting that they do not feel they have the opportunity to play sport, we talk to Mr. Motivator, and Gareth Davies from the RNIB, about the many hurdles that often prevent those getting involved in sport and physical activity and how being blind or partially sighted affects our mental health. We’re joined by Jain from Cornwall Mind to find out about the Hearing Voices group that takes place in Bodmin. You can hear what happened at the swimming event that was organised by Man Down at Porthleven Harbour during the recent Bank Holiday weekend. Plus, Jo from Cornwall Mind tells us about Volunteer week taking place during the first week of June and the new groups that have recently been launched. “A Space to Speak Your Mind” is produced in collaboration with Cornwall Mind: https://cornwallmind.org/what-we-do/community-minds/ With the support of Cornwall Rural Community Charity: www.cornwallrcc.org.uk/ More support at: www.samaritans.org/ or call 116 123 There is also a new 24/7 NHS local urgent mental health response phone line.
