South African, Sarah Baartman The Black Plaque Podcast is an original podcast series, celebrating stories of black historical figures in London, as part of the Black Plaque Project. In this episode, Dr Jak speaks to Podcaster, Actress and Director Kelechi Okafor. Kelechi’s chosen historical figure is South African Sarah Baartman. Sarah was seen as the epitome of colonial exploitation and racism, of the ridicule and commodification of black people and especially the black woman. Sarah Baartman’s journey is a story that must be told.
