Episode notes

Welcome to Booky! The friendly, snob-free podcast for readers and for writers. Join journalist, writer and presenter Nicola Adam who will be asking authors from across the genre and geographical divides to share their ups and downs on their journey to publication. Plus a few tips for budding authors along the way. At the end of each podcast Nicola will share the latest news and opportunities for writers and book lovers.

This week's guest is Dorothy Koomson, the London born, Leeds educated, now Brighton resident whose impressive writing career started in the library after school and through lots of daydreaming - she wrote her first novel at the age of 13 for her school friends. After studying journalism and working on magazines she continued to write on the train during her commute. It was in 2001 she wrote the Cupid Effect and signed with a publisher a year later. Since then she's been selected for a Richard and Judy summer read and gone on to write multiple bestsellers. Her latest, a compelling book club read, is called Every Smile You Fake.

Booky is a National World podcast. National World runs many news brands across the UK including The Yorkshire Evening Post, The News in Portsmouth, The Scotsman and Manchester World.
