Episode notes

On this week's Cut to the Race podcast, Oli, Abby and Sam are back to review the second round of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

To begin, the panel touch on some key news from the ongoing Red Bull situation but also a driver change that happened over the weekend for Ferrari due to Carlos Sainz falling ill and the result of F1 Academy's Race 2.

The trio discuss the events of practice and qualifying after giving their race ratings. They talk about the red flags brought out by Zhou Guanyu in FP3 and Nico Hulkenberg in Q2 as well as the underperforming Alpine and Daniel Ricciardo. They also debate whether or not Ricciardo is doing enough to remain in the Red Bull family before speaking about Lance Stroll's retirement and Ollie Bearman making his Formula 1 debut.

The panel talk about Stroll's incident and Bearman's performances in qualifying and the race, which saw him score points. They discuss key moments from the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, such as the battle between Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton and the tactics played by Haas, which provides an interesting debate on both sides.

Oli, Sam and Abby finish up by giving their drivers of the day and their hopes for Australia, Round Three.
