Episode notes

On this episode of Éirevision, we are delighted to be joined by singer-songwriter and Eurovision legend, Ryan O'Shaughnessy! Ryan joins Conor and Lou to chat about his rise to fame following his time on 'The Voice of Ireland' and 'Britain's Got Talent'. In 2017, Ryan's song 'Together' was pitched for Brendan Murray however, Louis Walsh decided against the song. Luckily he did as Ryan himself went on to sing the song himself in Lisbon the following year. This resulted in Ireland getting to the grand-final of the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time since 2013.

Ryan reflects on his time as Ireland's representative and the struggles faced post-Eurovision. He also shares his thoughts on how Ireland can improve going forward while also addressing the famous 'exploding cake' tweet from last year. Ryan also regularly appears on TG4's Junior Eurovision Éire each year as a judge. He discusses his involvement with the junior contest and shares how himself and Niamh Kavanagh ended up in the 'IOU' music video in 2018!
