Flip It
How to Flourish in Life with Corey Keyes
Episode notes
When was the last time you felt ‘alive’ - truly alive? The kind that awakens your soul and spirit with a flurry of butterflies.
Perhaps you can’t remember and instead feel like you are living on autopilot - just going through the motions of life. Some might call it ‘existing’ but for my guest this week, their experience of feeling a constant “restless emptiness” became almost too much to bear.
On a mission to heal his own wounds and to live a life full of colour, Corey Keyes became a sociologist to find out if other people felt the same. His research eventually led to him coining the terms “languishing” and its antidote “flourishing”, or good mental health.
But, what saved Corey from his past was something that couldn’t be found in books or academia, but something much closer to home. So, if you ever find yourself feeling low, sad or as if this world is weighing you down, I hope my conversation with Corey will help you to build a buffer against the pressures of modern life and find true flourishing.
