Gaining Mom-entum on Body Talk & Body Image: The Journey Continues

Listen on

Episode notes

Welcome back to Gaining Mom-entum! Join Abi & Meghan as they check-in with each other about their current self-care activities, including taking a journey down the rabbit hole that is S Club 7. Once they’re done naming all 7 members of the group, they get into the episode’s topic - body talk and body image. They begin by talking about their childhood memories and the messaging they took in around bodies and beauty standards. They unpack how they want to counter that messaging with their children. They chat about how being athletes has affected their relationships to their bodies over time which leads them to talk about how they related to their bodies both during and after their pregnancies. They discuss the idea of body neutrality, how each of them talks to their kids about bodies, and how they deal with their children receiving external messaging about bodies and beauty. Meghan & Abi wrap up their conversation with what they hope their children will learn from them about their bodies and how they perceive them.
