Listen on

Episode notes

“Get the simple things right, day in day out”

What does it take to work at the highest level in sport, for years?

Phil Nevile has been a footballer at Manchester United and then Captain of Everton.  He’s been Head Coach for the Lionesses and he’s currently Head Coach at Inter Miami.   You could say he’s part of a modern day sporting dynasty, with brother Gary, sister Tracey and his late father Neville, all working in professional sport.

In Phil’s word he went from being a “solider” at Manchester United to “the general” at Everton, he had to adapt quickly to being made captain so early, so, what are the lessons that he’s learnt about leadership, through sport?

Lisa and Danny discover that Phil’s approach to leadership is all about making great memories and ensuring that his team feel valued.  They also hear how Phil’s daughter has been a huge source of inspiration for him, during difficult times.
