Mind Matters with Dr Sian

Jay Blades: The time I was at my most vulnerable

Listen on

Episode notes

We've all come to know Jay Blades from his hit BBC show 'The Repair Shop' - where he leads a team of experts taking much loved but broken objects and restoring them back to life. But Jay's life is an extraordinary story of reinvention in itself. A difficult childhood, dyslexia that was undiagnosed until he was 31 years old, and a breakdown in his 40s, before he found fame on the show.

Here, he talks to Dr Sian Williams about the time in his life when he was at his most vulnerable, and how he managed to ‘move from that place’.

Mind Matters with Dr Sian is a podcast from 5 News, hosted by Dr Sian Williams. Producer: Katie Goodman; Executive producer: Silvia Maresca; Guest producer: Jacqui Fuller.
