- Ashley Carman’s scoop almost a month ago was correct - Office Ladies has moved from SiriusXM to Audacy in a deal which also covers The Lazy Genius Podcast. Terms weren’t given; the show launched in Oct 2019, and is a top 25 podcast in the US.
- Podcards, a podcast growth tool, has launched. The tool helps creators promote their shows, with campaign-level data showing how many people subscribed. Here’s our Podcard; it’s free to get started.
- As we mentioned on Jan 11, Overcast released a new, rewritten, version of the popular podcast app. Developer Marco Arment says it’ll be easier to add new features and iterate faster. The latest episode of the Accidental Tech Podcast dives into the detail. He also adds: “Try to get used to it for like a few days before you yell at me too much, please.” (We like it).
- Triton Digital released the Australian Podcast Ranker for June. Total downloads are down 6.2% month-on-month, and there were 16% fewer episodes published. There were 13% fewer weekdays in the month, though, thanks to the way calendars work.
- The ABC claims more shows in the top 200 than anyone else, while LiSTNR is the #1 sales network and iHeart is the #1 podcast publisher by listeners. The ranker measures participating publishers only.
- Meanwhile, in Q2 2024, Australian broadcast radio revenue increased by just 0.1%, while Australian digital audio revenue increased by 27.1%. However, digital audio revenue is just 12% the size of broadcast.

- YouTube is looking for people to participate in a research study about podcasters who are “involved in creating the visuals of a podcast (i.e. waveforms, images, video shown in a video podcast).“
- The ADWEEK Audio Awards winners were announced, though they’re behind a paywall, so who knows who won. Lava for Good won Podcast Network of the Year.
- ARN’s iHeart and BlakCast has announced the winner of their Find and Tell podcast series. Ben Haywood’s story focuses on the question of indigenous languages heading towards extinction.
- The new UK culture minister, Lisa Nandy, appears to be against the idea of the BBC advertising in podcasts in the UK. However, the BBC has said that advertising won’t be placed in news content.
- The Audiosigma MikeHero DSP is a portable USB audio interface with a set of unique features, including a Denoiser as well as EQ - perfect, we’re told, for taking on the road.
- Captivate 2.5 was announced. The release offers unlimited networks for all podcasters, and a new look and feel.

- The Podcast Host publishes How to Showcase Expert Guests Without Sacrificing Your Authority, which - fun fact - is the 1,000th post on the popular website. The first (from 2014) was “should I use a computer or a digital recorder?” This is, um, issue 1,863 of Podnews.
