Episode notes

Throughout our Premier League Storybook, young players helped weave the tales of the last 30 years – idolised by fans after coming though their clubs’ academy. In May 1997, however, one young star burst onto the scene in a way his predecessors never had.
It’s easy to forget the impact a teenage Michael Owen had on English football, but after his first season in English football – not to mention the World Cup – the whole planet was crazy on the Liverpool lad. Jake sat down with him to chart that incredible rise and what happened afterwards, and we’ll also hear from his team-mates at the time, as well as Glenn Hoddle, the manager who oversaw his incredible 1998 World Cup.
Chapter Six is one very much worth revisiting…
