Episode notes

This week, I am so excited to welcome someone to the podcast who I’ve admired for a very long time. Simon Thomas is a genuine inspiration to so many people out there who have suffered or are suffering with unfathomable grief, the loss of a loved one and how you can get through that process. Simon, for over 10 years presented the premier league on Sky Sports and BT Sport. However, in 2017, he tragically lost his wife Gemma to a rare form of leukaemia. She died within a week of being diagnosed and left his life completely shattered.

Simon has battled depression, anxiety, the grief of losing his wife Gemma and having to pick up his young son, Ethan, and this is the story behind what happened but this is also the story of new beginnings and how he got through the biggest rut of his life.

Simon has his own podcast: A Life, Interrupted, where he speaks to the likes of Phillip Schofield, Andrew Strauss, Paul McKenna and more about how they dealt with incredibly difficult situations in their lives to flourish on the other side. Please take a look a the podcast, I’ll put links in the show notes below or you can find it on all major podcast platforms.

So, Simon, welcome to The Rut, as always, please leave all judgement at the door.
