Matt’s journey began with his dual passions for tree care and aviation. Starting as a tree surgeon, Matt honed his skills over years in arboriculture, later moving into consultancy. Always drawn to innovation, he was captivated by drone technology in the early 2010s, realizing its potential to transform tree surveys. Investing in custom-built drones equipped with cameras, Matt initially met resistance from clients unfamiliar with this new approach.
To keep the business viable, he took on drone work in film and television, landing projects with high-profile productions like James Bond. However, the demanding hours and travel eventually took a personal toll, pushing Matt to reassess his priorities. Inspired by self-development and determined to return to his roots, he refocused ROAVR on tree and ecology surveys, building a consultancy that now collaborates with tree surgeons across the UK.
Today, ROAVR provides nationwide tree safety and planning support, bridging the gap between arborists and clients. Through innovative services like video walkthroughs and transparent reporting, Matt has not only grown Rover but also established it as a trusted name in arboricultural consultancy, committed to clarity and integrity.
