The first step to a healthy trauma response is recognizing you have an unhealthy response.  At this point you can then start to process a necessary reaction.  Your trauma response shouldn't be the same for every situation. Weather it be fight, flight, freeze or accommodation we are responsible for our own actions.  

Trauma is necessary for our growth and development as people. We focus on the negatives and as bad as they are there are also benefits. Trauma can help increase personal strength, spiritual enhancement and a deeper appreciation for life.
