S02E05 A day in the life of An English Teacher with Andrea Gadsbey

Welcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days.  On this episode, you'll meet Andrea Gadsbey.

Andrea's a VERY BUSY person!  She's a full time English teacher at a school in Manchester, a single mother, and she recently founded Hope Tuition Clinic: https://www.facebook.com/HPEnglishClinic/

A lot of things came out of her chat with Syd, including:

  • There is less "joy in schooling" than there used to be, mainly down to the curriculum being very pressurised, with much of the joy of learning being sucked out it.

  • The pandemic has allowed us to take a look at the current system and given us the opportunity to think about how we do education differently and bring it more up to date.

  • Setting up and running you own business is stressful, but because you're in control of all elements it's a different kind of stress, to when you're employed and have no control at all.
