Episode notes

“I always said I’d never be a teacher…”

Sam 'O'Brien's mum was a teacher, a profession her daughter maintained she would never pursue.

Fast forward a few years and not only has Sam done that - through University of Northampton's (UON) BA in Learning & Teaching (BALT), but she’s combined her new-found love for education with her passion for Japan, teaching Japanese children in England and LGBT+ issues and awareness.

Sam is also neurodivergent and, in this episode of our Unsung Educators podcasts - all about support roles in teaching and the people who study for them - she talks about her strategies for keeping on top of her university studies and the support she had from the academic team.

Find out more about BALT and other teaching courses at UON.
