Episode notes

In this episode Stacy Osei-Kuffour joins Rhianna and Michael to untangle the labyrinthine world of script and story editing for TV. Who writes what? Where do ideas come from? How do you pitch them? And who gets the credit? Stacy answers all these questions and more as she discusses her contribution to shows such as Hunters, the Emmy award-winning Watchmen, Run and PEN15.  Welcome to Wrap Party, the podcast that toasts the excellence of the creatives and craftspeople working behind-the-scenes on some of your favourite films and TV shows. SHOW NOTES WATCHING - Hunters (TV series). Al Pacino and Logan Lerman play vengeant Nazi hunters in 70s New York in this stylish, cool and genre-bending thrill ride. Watch on Prime Video. - Run (TV series). The writers had to get creative in this thrilling rom-com show exec produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, set for the most part on a train, as two ex-lovers go on the, well, run. Buy via Prime Video.  - The Power (TV series). Currently in pre-production with Amazon Studios. We are hotly anticipating this adaptation of Naomi Alderman's novel.  - Watchmen (TV series) Damon Lindelof's pulpy, politically-minded drama, based on the graphic novel about a band of masked vigilantes. A perfect playground for Stacy's weird and wild ideas! Buy via Prime Video.  - Lost (TV series). JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof's serpentine story of plane crash survivors stranded on a sinister island. We'd love to know the crazy ideas that *didn't* make it into the show. Watch on Prime Video.  - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV series). The seminal American TV series about a teenage girl slash vampire slayer; as goofy as it is groundbreaking. Watch on Prime Video.  - Upload (TV series). A bleak and satirical, but strangely sweet sci-fi comedy about the afterlife, which comes with Rhianna's seal of approval! Watch on Prime Video.  - Gangs of London (TV series). A binge-able but at times "grotesquely violent" story of power struggles and gang warfare. Buy via Prime Video.  - The Leftovers (TV series). An ambitious, intense drama about the individuals left behind after a post-Rapture event. Frequently cited as one of the best things to air on TV, it's certainly a feat of masterful writing. Buy via Prime Video.  READING / LISTENING - The Known World (book). Set in Virginia during the antebellum era, this fictional retelling of a black slave owner's story comes highly recommended from Stacy. Available via Audible.  - A Home at the End of the World (book). One of Stacy's all-time favourites; a surprising story of the complexities of friendship and family life. Bonus, its narrated by Colin Farrell. Available via Audible.  - On Writing (book). The incredibly prolific author pens his writerly wisdoms in this much-lauded memoir. Available via Audible.  - The Power (book). Naomi Alderman's fierce and furious novel, set in a world where women control the male population. Available via Audible.  Wrap Party with Prime Video is a Little Dot Studios production for Prime Video Hosted by Rhianna Dhillon and Michael Leader Produced by Annie Hughes, Jake Cunningham and Harold McShiel Additional research by Nicole Davis Original music by Axel Kacoutie Edited by Content is Queen Artwork by Sandra Boucher and Sam Mason
