Ep 46 What is Your Love Language?

Listen on

Episode notes

Hello...thanks for listening!

The 5 Love Languages according to the book with the same title by Gary Chapman, published in 1995:

1. Words of Affirmation

2. Quality Time

3. Physical Touch

4. Acts of Service

5. Receiving Gifts

So, I first heard about this book called "The 5 Love Languages" by Gary Chapman several years ago from a friend of mine. She mentioned how her parents' love languages were different for each other and for how they showed it to her and her siblings too, for example and it made me wonder...now this was several years prior to my 'self-discovery' in 2020 but as I was doing my self-discovery I decided to look into my love language(s) too.

....come to the more present moment and come to find out that my love language is 'Words of Affirmation'. I ended up thinking about what the love languages were for my close family members and last year I decided to ask them! I kind of had an idea but I didn't want to assume anything so I asked them straight out and I was surprised to find out that each and every one of our love languages is different from one another!

With this information...I've since explained what 'my' love language is to them and I found out what 'their' love languages are in addition and it has really helped for me to show my love and affection for them as well as them for me!

I'd also like to add...with this said please don't 'stop' the other person/party to show their affection and love just because it's not 'your' first love language. Let them show their love how they want/need to...'leave them alone' and let them be. This is how they show affection after all... I just suggest both and all parties to know each others love language so that they 'know' how you like to be shown affection and love, and vice versa. ;-)
