Episode notes

The next Careers for Net Zero Podcast episode features Blade Technician champion, Darren Smith.

In the final episode of the Careers for Net Zero Podcast’s limited series, Darren, Anita and Holly spoke about 100m long surfboards, travelling to waterfalls, forests, deserts, the outback and the coast all around Australia and the world, and taking safety and quality seriously.

As Darren so eloquently says, “you only get to fall once.” He walks us through the training that on- and off-shore Blade Technicians need to undertake, including safely escaping from water and getting on and off helicopters and giant cherry pickers.

He explores in a bit more detail the continuing professional development opportunities provided by the Global Wind Organisation: https://www.globalwindsafety.org/. And Anita gets us excited about undertaking the tailored Blade Tech Certificate III in Engineering - Composites Trade at Federation University: https://study.federation.edu.au/course/DJBC.
